A Humorous Look at Farm Life ~ by Bob Luther
In 1980, we bought a new John Deere tractor with full cab, air and heat. We thought we could work later in the day with this new equipment, and sometimes even into the late evening.
I found out differently in Broadview Heights, one night I was discing with Tim.
At about 10 PM, we got to the front of the field to see a police car setting there, with lights flashing. I was informed that it was against the law to run heavy equipment late in the evening and was given a ticket.
A few years later a developer came and developed the ground we had previously farmed. There are maybe 2000 homes in that area. Now instead of plowing dirt, we are plowing snow out of driveways in the same field.
It’s funny how we can run the same size tractor and bobcats all night long without getting a ticket for running the equipment!
As a side note, plowing snow pays a lot better than plowing dirt ever did!
